Each platform in a few lines

1 TC2000

4.8

The strongest scanner in our test. EasyScan sorts the US market in real time on Premium and up, and Premium+ tracks up to 1,000 alerts. Plans run from $24.99/mo to $99.99/mo. The catch for Canadians: its pricing page mentions no TSX or TSX-V data.

2 StockCharts

4.7

Browser-based charts with a free level and a first month free at the Extra level. It is the only platform here with official real-time TSX and TSX-V data, a $9.95/mo add-on on top of plans from $19.95/mo.

3 Finviz

A fast US stock screener with heat maps, a useful free version and one paid tier, Elite, at US$39.50/mo or US$299.50/yr. It covers US-listed stocks only, so TSX names never appear in a screen.

5 cTrader

4.4

A forex and CFD platform you get through a partner broker rather than a subscription. Automated strategies run in C# or Python. Costs, and whether you can use it from Canada at all, depend on the broker.

How to read the table

The rating is the average of 12 scores out of 10, divided by two. A platform can rank lower and still be the right choice for you: MotiveWave scores below TC2000 overall, but it is the only one here with a native Linux build. Level reflects how much setup and trading knowledge a platform expects, from Beginner to Advanced.

Price shows the cheapest paid option as listed on September 29, 2026. Add the data you need before comparing, because exchange data is often sold separately. Our guide to market data costs in Canada walks through it.

Risk warning. Trading stocks, options, futures, forex or crypto carries a high risk of losing money, and leveraged products can cost you more than you deposit. TickerBench reviews software only. Nothing on this site is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything, so consider speaking with a registered adviser before you trade.
